Western Sydney Airport Experience Centre
The Brief
We were tasked to create an engaging digital experience that not only showcased the project, but was able to cater for multiple different audiences of future stakeholders, investors, operators, government,
the local community and school children.
The Challenge
How do you make the the building of a new airport interesting and exciting using a building on a giant grassy field?
Strategic Insight
Tech is a big part of modern aviation. Why don’t we lean all the way into it to create a command centre?
Solution
We created five areas of interest.
Solution
The Control Room
This multi-screen visualisation features live camera feeds of the construction site and pre-recorded video footage of relevant airport-related content, which periodically evolves into a 3-minute showcase film across all screens when the room dims into ‘show mode’.
The Interactive Timeline
Comprising 5 touch screens that highlight dates, images and video of key moments in the planning and building of the airport, this engaging feature invites visitors to scroll through a detailed history of the region on a simple touch interface.
The LED Departure Video Wall
This large, vibrant video wall playfully simulates the airport experience, complete with motion graphics and a flight departure board to indicate the broad global destinations the new airport will service flights to and from.
Solution
Pod screens
Featuring custom designed and built HTML interactives on touch screen interfaces, these easy-to-use touch screen booths allow visitors to navigate through a series of stories, videos and information about the region’s rich multicultural history, the build stages of the future airport, exciting technology plans and more.
AugmentedReality Experience
Designed to create a “virtual time-machine”, these interactive 3D virtual models (based on elevations of the proposed airport) allow visitors to see how the site and surrounding area will be transformed into a world-leading international airport by 2026. Built-in sensors map the layout of the room in real-time, meaning a virtual object can rest on a physical table and guests can walk around to view it from any angle.
